The FFUN Group, a privately held automotive dealer headquartered in Saskatoon, has acquired Key Auto Group, a Yorkton, Sask.-based dealership and collision operator with additional operations in Manitoba.
The transaction includes Key Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC, Key Yorkton Kia and Yorkton Toyota in Yorkton, Sask., as well as Key Chevrolet Buick GMC in Swan River, Man., along with the Key Collision & Paint Centre in Yorkton.
The deal marks a significant brand expansion for Saskatoon-based FFUN, bringing Toyota, Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, and Kia franchises into its portfolio for the first time.
"This transaction reflects our continued mission to develop a world-class organization headquartered right here in the Prairies," said Mark Loeppky, president and CEO of FFUN Group. "Key Auto Group has established strong dealerships in their markets, and our focus now is to support those teams and maintain continuity for customers."
Evan Ortynsky, founder and CEO of Key Auto Group, said FFUN was the right fit for the business he spent decades building. "I am thrilled that the business has been sold to FFUN Motor Group — the fit and feel were right from the beginning," he said. "Thank you to all our staff and customers for the many wonderful years we've shared together."
FFUN, which operates automotive and powersports dealerships throughout Western Canada, said integration efforts will prioritize aligning operations while preserving local leadership and community ties. The company did not respond to a request for comment on the rebranding timeline before publication.
The sale also marks the end of an era for the Ortynsky family, whose General Motors presence in the region spans 79 years. Approximately 100 employees are expected to transition to the new ownership.
Advisors on the transaction included KPMG Corporate Finance. Legal counsel was provided by MLT Aikins for the buyer and McDougall Gauley for the seller.
