Blue Screen Beware: Ford recalls Explorer, Lincoln Corsair and Aviator vehicles for rearview camera malfunctions

Washington D.C., United States — Ford Motor Co. is recalling 462,000 vehicles globally, citing faulty video outputs that may prevent rearview cameras from displaying.

According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) timeline, this recall impacts 2020 to 2023 model year Ford Explorers, Lincoln Corsairs and Aviator vehicles with 360-degree cameras.

Under this defect, affected vehicles incorrectly displayed a blue screen or discoloured images due to errors in the image processing module software.

Thus far, 17 minor accidents have been reported as a result of these camera defects, with no reported injuries.

This new recall supercedes repairs from NHTSA recall number 21V-735, where Explorer, Aviator, Ford Escape and Corsair vehicles experienced similar camera defects.
