Believe it or Not – July 26, 2019

Toronto, Ontario — July 26, 2019 – From a perfectly-timed collision to a bizarre theft that cost a family their sanity and a job, this week of collision repair news has served nothing but weird, wild, and unbelievable stories.

Right Place, Right Time

A crazy collision seemed to happen in the perfect place earlier this week when a man crashed into a parked car, sending it flying onto the front lawn of an auto-insurance business.

On Wednesday afternoon, a man in his mid-30’s was racing down a busy street in Peterborough Ont. when he lost control of his van and rammed into an empty parked car.

The impact of the crash sent the parked car flying on the front lawn of Darling Insurance – an auto, life, and home insurance institute – alerting the helpful employees inside.

Not only were auto experts immediately on the scene but a paramedic student across the street was getting her teeth cleaned and lept from her chair to cross the street and help the injured driver.

“It was crazy,” said one eye witness, “I heard a crash and saw a car flying through the air right in my direction.”

Not only did the stars align for the student, employees, and driver, but Collision Repair had just left from Nadeau’s Collision, allowing them to depart right on time to tow the damaged vehicles away.

And did we mention, the local fire department was stationed less than one block away?

While the driver may have troubles remembering the crazy accident, employees at Darling Insurance employees will never forget the time business came rolling right up to their front step.

Georgia O’Thief

A Massachusetts couple is dealing with a pretty strange collision claim as their stolen car has been discovered full of bizarre drawings, drug paraphernalia, and one weird letter from the thief.

According to authorities, the note discovered in the abandoned vehicle read, “I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Needed to borrow for emergency situation. Why’d you leave the keys in your car? Will return when found 🙂 ! Life’s tough you understand! My bad.”

Alongside the note was marijuana and a mish-mash of bizarre scribbles reading, “you know the vibe,” “LOST,” “okurrrrt”, and “sorry!” among other nonsensical phrases and doodles.

To make matters even worse, co-owner of the car, Ms. Flores, lost her job as she left sensitive documents vehicle that were later stolen by the culprit.

Other reported losses were their two-year-old daughter’s car seat and stroller. And the owners are pretty mad.

“I don’t know what they think is funny or fun, but it’s pretty disrespectful,” stated Mr. Flores.

So while repairers slap on their gloves and start scrubbing the bizarre doodles out of the interior, we hope the unidentified culprit learns their lesson.

The world is your canvas…unless it’s an unlocked car.

 What Z F?

German company, ZF Group has designed a new system that could reduce injuries from side collisions by 40 percent. The only catch? Your car would look kinda look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghost Busters.

Exterior airbags may be the future of protecting vehicles from a serious collision.

ZF has designed exterior bags that are five to eight times the size of your typical interior airbag. Acting at a crazy-fast speed, the system’s cameras, radar, and lidar can detect a potential collision, allowing the airbags to inflate 150 milliseconds before the actual collision occurs.

According to ZF, the airbags cover theA and C pillars of the car, protecting passengers from potentially serious side collisions.

Unfortunately, the project is still a few years away from hitting the streets, but until then, Collision Repair recommends a couple hundred layers of bubble wrap.

And if that doesn’t work, you know who to call.
