Washington, D.C. — Hyundai is recalling approximately 26,000 2020 and 2021 model year Elantra and Sonata sedans because their windshields may detach in the event of a collision.
The issue is due to faulty clear coat paint, said Hyundai, which caused the windshields to not bond properly. On affected vehicles, owners may notice water leaking through the windshield or excessive noise when the vehicle is in motion.
Hyundai is not aware of any crashes or injuries due to this issue, said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
